The eB for
Nuclear application suite includes solutions specifically
tailored to the highly regulated nuclear industry.
Consisting of six integrated solutions based on
configuration management principals, design engineering,
compliance, information management, performance
improvement, knowledge
management and training.

Overview
The life
cycle of nuclear facilities includes licensing,
construction, operations, maintenance, and decommissioning.
eB for Nuclear is an integrated suite of information
management solutions that ensures the integrity
of controlled information by uniquely managing
its connectivity to all other relevant information
throughout the Iife cycle of any nuclear facility.
It captures, stores and manages structured data
and unstructured content, including records, specifications,
engineering drawings, procedures, reports, emails,
design documents and licensing documents, and
identifies and relates this content through object
modeling to physical items such as equipment,
systems, structures and components.
eB nuclear
applications are designed to comply with Institute
of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) industry guidelines
and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations
wherever applicable. Each application is designed
and implemented with the support and guidance
of a nuclear customer to ensure the solution meets
the needs of the business. The eB Nuclear Application
Suite consists of Compliance, Design Engineering,
Information Management, Knowledge
Management, Performance Improvement and Training.

Business
Values
The legal
operation of a facility is based on the agreed
license guided by federal, stated and industry
regulations to ensure safe operations of a facility.
The inability to comply within the operating license
and regulations will have significant cost implications
to the company and could have safety implications
to workers and the community. Nuclear facilities
take great care to ensure they have governance
policies in place for compliance. eB for Nuclear
consists of a suite of applications that have
been developed to comply with regulatory requirements
and industry best practice guidelines.
Trustworthy
information
The information managed at nuclear facilities
share human, material and data resources across
the complete enterprise. Within this highly regulated
industry information is a important asset to the
operation of a plant and it is critical that this
information be trustworthy. Knowing that the information
assets are trustworthy provides confidence in
the information and this holds significant business
value.
Visibility
to information
eB’s ability to model information and build
relationships between objects creates an ecosystem
of relevant information that can be viewed in
context. Increased visibility to critical information
and high levels of data integrity reduces risk,
increases safety, improves work efficiency and
helps reduce outage times.
Proven
solution for COLA (Construction and Operating
license application)
eB is being used by consortiums consisting of
Power Utilities and Reactor Designers/Manufacturers
who are brought together as virtual enterprises
to jointly prepare, review and ultimately submit
complete Construction and Operating License Applications
(COLA) for new plant builds to the Nuclear Regulatory
Commission (NRC). This is being supported on a
global basis from a remote operations center.
eB effectively serves as the collaboration portal
while providing the enterprise information management
features required to maintain security and accuracy.
Provide
oversight for new plant construction
Nuclear Engineering, Procurement and Construction
(EPC) companies are using eB to manage large project
requirements structures related to power generation
and waste treatment facilities which are required
to comply with the Code of Federal Regulations
(CFRs). One key factor in maintaining cost and
controlling schedules is to understand the impact
that change may have on the bridged information,
including compliance and regulatory requirements.
eB’s intrinsic ability to produce change
effects analyses ensures that the true impact
to project timelines, quality requirements and
costs are fully visible, allowing decisions to
be made with clear understanding of their impact.
Design
Basis available to operations and maintenance
Nuclear facility owner/operators are using eB
for Nuclear to maintain and protect the Engineering
Design Basis of their facilities as well as comply
with day-to-day federal and regulatory requirements
related to the operations, maintenance, safety/security
and environmental impact requirements. The License
Basis documents, fully integrated with the Master
Equipment List (MEL), form the basis of maintaining
the design baseline and providing compliance information
throughout the nuclear life cycle.
